Review: Laxman leads Deccan Chargers to victory
VVS Laxman did a huge favour to the Deccan Chargers by missing the match against the Chennai Super Kings. It came as no surprise that the decision was the key which led to their victory over the Chennai Super Kings.
Adam Gilchrist, captaining the Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field. A good decision considering the CSK's weakened batting and always poor bowling. His decision was prvoed correct when the sorry batting of the Super Kings managed a meagre 144 runs in the 20 overs, even the Royal Chaalengers manage to score more thatn that with their test squad. Suresh Raina top scored with 32, Albie Morkel and the Dhoni namesake, Manpreet Gony made valuable contributions towards the end. Afridi struggled with the ball while the others were clinical, T20 style.
In reply, the chargers lost Herschelle Gibbs early but Gilchrist was back to his majestic best. He played the bowling around and scored 54 out of 36 balls which laid the platform for the comfortable victory. Scott Styris and Rohit Sharma played solid knocks of 36 and 23 to ensure no late hiccups for the Chargers. But it was Shahid Afridi who stole the show at the end when he hit 20 of the last 4 balls of Joginder Sharma allowing the Chargers to reach home with 2 overs to spare.
The Chenni Super Kings need serious thought at their batting as their team looks to be falling apart at the wrong time. The Decaan Chargers look to be gelling, albeit slightly late but still have an outside chane of making it to the top 4.
Man of the Match: VVS Laxman for missing the match and allowing the Chargers to win.

dravid is doing best with whatever resources he has got.. i agree that he had a say in selecting the players and he made a big blunder there.. but then sitting out wont help his team one bit...
but yeah.. now there is pressure on Ganguly to perform or follow laxman's path.. but i dont think ganguly will ever do that..
not a chance
koi to kuch bolo tendulkar ke against.. fir aayega mazza discussion karne ka
Chalo main bol deta hoon( I do not fear public lynching) -
Tendulkar is sitting out because he fears that if he is unable to perform in T20 format, then his reputation will take a serious hit
dudesh!!! God fears nobody!
waise ye Tendulkar ko na khelne ki wajah se paise to nahin mil rahe hongay na? Lekin he is the icon player of the Mumbai team to pata nahin hai jyaada ki kya hisaab hai ... bhai saab agar paise mil rahe hain to aish hai Tendulkar sahab ki ...
On a different note ... will Laxman do it again today? Waise Deccan walon ko Laxman ko replace karke Gilchrist ko captain bana dena chahiye ya Laxaman ko antaraatma ki awaaz sunte hue khud captaincy chhod deni chahiye ...
When it is about Tendulkar, it is never about money!!!
Laxman would be thinking about this thing more than you are. Lets see what he (or his team management) does.
why do you say that? "Tedndular ** Money"
Everything is about money dude. I am very sure that Tendulkar is getting the money; if not he would have started to play
I would think Tendulkar would have earned enough. Laxman though needs some money.
If you look at it, Tendulkar is working on PR stuff, he is planning for life after Cricket. Brand Ambassador etc etc. Quite sophisticated now.
Let the fireworks begin
